Job description

The Firmware Engineer will focus on developing and customizing modem software to enhance NAS and Emergency Call Performance. This role is part of the Google Pixel team, which aims to deliver advanced mobile experiences through innovative software and hardware integration. The engineer will collaborate with various teams and regional carriers to meet product requirements and resolve protocol issues. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to drive project success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7 years of experience with software development in programming languages such as C/C++, Java, or Rust.
  • Experience with C/C++ and Embedded Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with 3GPP LTE/NR protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and customize modem software to meet customer and project requirements in the NAS and Emergency Call Performance domain.
  • Collaborate with regional carriers to fulfill customer commercial product requirements.
  • Provide on-site support in carrier labs to resolve critical issues and obtain certification.
  • Partner with cross-layer and cross-organization teams to deliver high-quality pixel modem software.
  • Generate ideas and develop features to improve engineering processes and product velocity.
