You will collaborate with various teams to implement immediate containment strategies and drive root cause analysis. The position is crucial as Rivian prepares for the R2 launch, demanding flexibility and a proactive mindset.

  • 3+ years of manufacturing, quality, or engineering-related experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1+ years of automotive supplier quality or quality engineering experience, preferably with automotive interiors, wire harnesses, or electronic assemblies.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive quality processes, VDA/AIAG standards, and 8D problem-solving methods.
  • Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems, circuit integrity, or electronic modules.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, physically active plant environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible, extended hours to support critical vehicle launches.
  • Solid understanding of Metrology, Inspection Methods, GD&T, and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing and standard health and safety practices.
  • Excellent negotiation, prioritization, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to supplier facilities on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary responder for line calls related to interior, wire harness, and electronics parts.
  • Execute immediate containment actions to protect the production line.
  • Triage and route supplier issues identified during audits to the correct stakeholders.
  • Generate Rivian Rapid Response initiatives for supplier issues within the plant.
  • Implement short-term and long-term countermeasures to resolve supplier defects.
  • Author formal documentation, quality alerts, and non-conformance reports for supplier-related issues.
  • Play a critical role in the R2 launch by coordinating containment and resolving component issues.
  • Perform rigorous root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for part defects.
  • Partner with component-specific Part SDEs to communicate plant-level issues and verify supplier corrective actions.
  • Lead regular inspection and teardown meetings with cross-functional teams to improve quality.
  • Develop, implement, and track key performance indicators for plant-level supplier quality.
  • Train cross-functional plant teams on quality systems and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Conduct internal and process audits of the Quality Management System to ensure compliance.

Benefits

  • Employees at Rivian are often offered comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, ESPP and potential RSU grants, performance bonuses, and generous time off including paid parental and sick leave. Perks can include 24/7 mental-health coaching and therapy, Hinge Health for Anthem enrollees, tuition assistance and professional development, plus on-site food and a wide range of employee discounts on items like computers, mobile phones, home loans, and pet care.
