Job description

The Sr. Quality Engineer, Complete Vehicle Quality at Rivian plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality vehicles by collaborating with various cross-functional teams including Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing. This position focuses on identifying and addressing quality issues, developing inspection plans, and validating actions taken to resolve critical quality concerns. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality management within manufacturing environments and will be instrumental in maintaining quality standards throughout the production process. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to effectively navigate complex production lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of quality experience in manufacturing or engineering environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain testing methods for detection, diagnostics and investigation for quality issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in 8D or similar problem-solving methods.
  • Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office, CAD, and Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Must be able to travel at least 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various cross-functional teams to ensure the Manufacturing facility implements and maintains all requisite controls for the detection, containment, and prevention of quality issues.
  • Actively identify and address high-risk issues originating from various sources, including Service Quality data and Operations reports.
  • Work with the Engineering team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure process capability meets product requirements.
  • Develop inspection plans and work instructions for Quality Gates based on established specifications and industry standards.
  • Monitor and steer systematic problems through the operations system.
  • Provide validation for deviations and containment actions implemented within the factory to address critical quality issues.
