Job description

The Power Engineer role in Platforms Engineering at Google focuses on designing and building innovative power solutions for large-scale computing infrastructures. This position requires physical interaction with hardware in a simulated data center environment, emphasizing the development of power conversion specifications and solutions. The team is responsible for delivering cutting-edge technologies that support Google's services and empower customers with advanced capabilities. As a key member, you will manage projects and collaborate with industry leaders to evaluate and adopt new technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working with power converter design including DC/DC converter design and board bring up and debugging.
  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in power system design and analyzing and organizing data.
  • Knowledge of power electronics fundamentals and various power conversion designs for data center power delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate and design on board power conversion specifications and solutions.
  • Analyze performance, cost, reliability, and availability trade-offs.
  • Support projects that involve new technologies or new uses of multiple existing technologies.
  • Partner with power industry leaders to lead evaluation and adoption of the most engaging technologies.
  • Engage cross-functionally to ensure successful roll-out, testing, and complete validation.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction while troubleshooting complex system level power issues.
