Job description
Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking a CPU Technology Feasibility Implementation Engineer to work on technology evaluation during the early design phase. This role focuses on conducting experiments and analysis related to CPU physical design and maximizing performance, power, and area benefits from new process technologies. The ideal candidate will collaborate with multi-functional engineering teams to resolve technology-related issues and improve overall PPA. This position requires a deep understanding of CPU microarchitecture and process technology.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with synthesis, place-and-route, and clock flow
- Experience with PPA optimizations
- Implementation experience on high-performance CPU designs
- Deep understanding of process technology and its evaluation
- Deep understanding of power, performance, and area tradeoffs
- Deep knowledge of CPU microarchitecture and low power implementation techniques
- Understanding of static timing and critical path closure techniques
Responsibilities
- Understand new process technology and PPA trends
- Drive RTL-to-GDS flow through synthesis and place-and-route for technology evaluation experiments
- Analyze PD results and identify areas for improvements to maximize PPA benefit
- Work with multi-functional engineering teams to resolve technology-related issues
- Perform and analyze various PD experiments with new process technology
