Job description
The Associate Engineer - Utilities role at Jacobs focuses on supporting electrical transmission and distribution projects in North America. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering from an accredited college.
- PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering design of underground or overhead electrical and gas utilities in urban environments.
- Experience providing engineering services for private energy developers and/or utility companies.
- Knowledge of Civil3D is preferred.
- Familiarity with ampacity and pull load calculations.
- Detail oriented with excellent writing skills.
Responsibilities
- Build strong client relationships with a variety of clients.
- Attend in-person, field, and online meetings with clients to provide management support and engineering guidance.
- Perform siting, routing, and constructability evaluations to assist in the selection of final routes and construction methods.
- Coordinate with GIS and CAD professionals to prepare maps and drawings for permitting and construction purposes.
- Oversee the preparation of technical drawings and engineering reports.
- Coordinate field work for data gathering including geotechnical field programs and construction observations.
- Prepare calculations, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Review design documents from various disciplines for consistency and coordination.
- Engage in verbal and written communications with the design team and other disciplines.
- Identify problems, develop appropriate solutions, and request assistance where necessary.
- Work effectively with multi-disciplinary global project teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with proposals and business development.
- Contribute to a learning environment and support fellow engineers.
