Job description

Tesla is seeking a Process Engineer to support the launch of Optimus Production in the Power Supply Charging Segment. The role involves developing and improving manufacturing processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring high-quality production standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelors' Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in process engineering within a high-volume manufacturing or automotive/aerospace production environment
  • Proficiency in process development tools and methodologies including PFMEA, control plans, APQP, process capability analysis (Cpk/Ppk), and SPC
  • Hands-on experience with structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, A3, fishbone diagrams, DoE, and root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with automation, robotics, or mechatronic assembly processes is highly desirable
  • Strong data analysis skills; experience with manufacturing data systems, statistical tools, and process monitoring software
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and implement robust manufacturing processes for Optimus sub-assemblies and systems
  • Drive Process Readiness with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with Design Engineering, Quality, Tooling, and Automation teams
  • Define critical process parameters and develop and maintain control plans, implement Statistical Process Control (SPC), and conduct process capability studies (Cpk/Ppk)
  • Drive PFMEA development and maintenance in collaboration with Quality and Design teams
  • Lead qualification and validation of new manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and tooling
  • Apply first-principles thinking and structured problem-solving methodologies to investigate and resolve process-related issues
  • Provide hands-on technical support on the production floor to troubleshoot process issues in real-time
  • Monitor process performance metrics, analyze production data trends, and implement process improvements
