Job description

The Cloud Hardware Development Engineer role at AWS focuses on defining server architectures for AI training and inference. You will work with a diverse team to deliver high-performance solutions while ensuring safety and security standards. The position involves collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to translate workload requirements into technical specifications. You will also be responsible for monitoring server quality metrics and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of equivalent experience in hardware product development.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • In-depth expertise in server technologies such as thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity.
  • Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with EC2 to define server architectures based on workload demand and customer requirements.
  • Translate server architectures into detailed designs and component specifications.
  • Define and drive validation strategies from PCBA bring-up through server and rack integration.
  • Triage hardware issues at ODM facilities and datacenters, conducting root cause analysis.
  • Oversee the fleet of servers developed, monitoring quality metrics and ensuring they meet customer requirements.
