Job description

The Critical Environment Electrical Engineer at Microsoft will play a vital role in managing and optimizing electrical systems within large-scale datacenters. This position is part of the Cloud Operations & Innovation team, which focuses on delivering core infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud services. The role emphasizes environmental sustainability and safety while supporting 24/7 operations. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 1+ year of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience in critical, industrial, or utility environments.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical expert for on-site operations related to large-scale mission critical electrical systems.
  • Manage the electrical infrastructures throughout the datacenter campus.
  • Work with commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures for highly redundant electrical designs.
  • Support 24x7x365 on-site datacenter operations and electrical infrastructure.
  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of data center activities.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to maximize business results and enhance customer experiences.
