Job description

Arcadis is seeking an Entry Level Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join the Resilience Environment team in Bluefield, Virginia. This role involves a significant amount of fieldwork, with candidates expected to spend 95% to 100% of their time outdoors. The focus will be on remediation, sampling, and monitoring activities while adhering to health and safety standards. The ideal candidate will contribute to improving quality of life through their expertise in geology or environmental science.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science or a closely related field is required.
  • 40 Hours OSHA HAZWOPER certification is preferred.
  • General knowledge of the environmental, health and safety field is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of applied safety protocols for execution of field work is required.
  • Proficiency in standard MS Office suite software applications is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with task and project managers while working with on-site subcontractors and field staff.
  • Support sampling, data collection, and field documentation.
  • Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples.
  • Prepare samples for shipping and complete chain-of-custody paperwork.
  • Prepare preliminary data and scientific documents under the supervision of project staff.
  • Manage personal workloads and communicate progress and obstacles to project managers.
