Job description

The Principal Sourcing Engineer will join Microsoft's Strategic Sourcing team, focusing on driving the Silicon strategy and performance for Xbox and Surface Hardware. This role is essential for managing the supply chain and sourcing activities related to Microsoft Devices Chipset. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional leadership to optimize design solutions and supply base while ensuring effective supplier relationships. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles.
  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles.
  • Equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years industry experience in consumer electronics in the semiconductor and silicon space.
  • Experience in Chipset or Wireless sourcing or sales.
  • Experience in negotiating complex contracts and deals.
  • Proficient storytelling and influencing skills with a track record of developing and nurturing key stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Own the supply chain and sourcing activities for Microsoft Devices Chipset including negotiating commercial agreements and optimizing collaboration between teams.
  • Engage with cross-functional leadership to determine the best design solution and supply base.
  • Manage contracting activities with Legal to ensure contracts reflect appropriate business terms and IP protection.
  • Build multi-sourcing strategies to mitigate risk and drive appropriate competition.
  • Analyze the overall supply chain to identify risks and drive resolution to systemic issues affecting quality, cost, delivery, or lead-times.
  • Provide thought leadership and manage strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Manage supplier relationships and coordinate efforts to drive supplier performance improvement.
