Job description

The Entry Level Structural Engineer will join the Cities and Places team in San Francisco, CA, focusing on innovative engineering solutions for both private and public sector clients. This hybrid role involves working in the office 2-3 days per week and participating in various engineering tasks, including design, analysis, and maintenance of structural systems. The position offers mentorship from experienced professionals, allowing for growth in structural engineering fundamentals and interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and proactive in managing their workload while contributing to impactful projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural engineering emphasis
  • 1-2 years of previous project work experience or internships
  • EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, in pursuit of PE
  • Knowledge of US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC
  • Familiarity with Revit and Navisworks
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, RAM Structural System, ETABS, or similar

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of structural systems for buildings and infrastructure projects
  • Perform evaluations of structures with varying degrees of complexity
  • Prepare plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates under supervision
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Collaborate closely with Structural Leads, Project Managers, and other team members
  • Develop a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Structural Engineering
  • Take initiative to determine project needs and seek guidance when necessary
