Job description
The Resident Engineer for Water/Wastewater will work on-site at a client wastewater plant in Virginia, managing various aspects of multiple wastewater treatment projects. This role involves acting as the primary project interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with construction documents and quality control plans. The engineer will be responsible for monitoring project progress, managing risks, and facilitating communication among all parties involved. This position requires a strong focus on safety, budget adherence, and schedule management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline
- Professional working experience in construction management or resident engineering of wastewater facilities
- Familiarity with electronic project management software is preferred
- Working knowledge of construction scheduling
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Physical ability to move around an active construction site
Responsibilities
- Monitor and observe the progress and quality of work performed by the contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Review, coordinate, and approve all shutdowns and outage requests while working with owner staff and contractors.
- Investigate field issues and coordinate with the owner and engineer to develop solutions for design or construction problems.
- Screen all RFIs and coordinate with the owner and engineer for timely resolutions.
- Coordinate the timely review of shop drawings and product data for conformance with contract documents.
- Oversee all testing, startups, and commissioning activities, issuing final compliance and acceptance recommendation reports.
- Attend and chair all project meetings, preparing and distributing minutes.
- Prepare weekly construction update reports and monthly assessments of project status.
- Maintain project files and logs for various documentation related to the project.
