The Senior Software Development Engineer role on the PRISM team at Amazon focuses on building large-scale distributed systems and AI/ML-powered applications to enhance the product catalog. Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
- 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers
- 6+ years of experience processing data with massively parallel technologies
- Experience working in catalog, identity, or matching problem domains
Responsibilities
- Own the design and delivery of large-scale systems that power product identity and matching
- Lead architecture decisions for systems handling hundreds of millions of transactions daily
- Translate vague requirements into implementable solutions under tight schedules
- Design systems from scratch in fast-evolving domains and integrate with Amazon's ecosystem
- Build and optimize inference infrastructure for multimodal models at scale
- Drive change across teams through technical influence and establish architectural consistency
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide feedback through code reviews
- Communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders and balance trade-offs
- Partner closely with Applied Scientists to translate ML research into production systems
