The role focuses on leading security initiatives within the AWS Security Assurance Services team, which aims to provide scalable security solutions for customers. The team is composed of industry-certified assessors and Compliance Engineers who help clients achieve and maintain compliance in the cloud. The primary responsibilities include threat modeling, security design reviews, and implementing security controls across various AWS services. The position requires collaboration with customers to operationalize security measures and ensure compliance with audit standards.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • 2+ years of experience in scripting, programming, and security code review in a common programming language.
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating tasks using command line tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or experience in IT Security.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and review code, scripts, IaC, and detections in support of security defenses.
  • 5+ years as a technical specialist, including 3+ years in secure coding, software development, or cloud security engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS security and governance services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead threat modeling, security design reviews, and architecture reviews for customer engagements.
  • Design and implement custom preventive, detective, and proactive controls.
  • Build secure-by-design Infrastructure-as-Code controls for various AWS architectures.
  • Apply AWS security best practices for authentication, authorization, and data handling.
  • Write and review Infrastructure-as-Code, scripts, and detections in multiple programming languages.
  • Build continuous compliance monitoring and automated evidence collection pipelines.
  • Integrate custom controls with AWS-native and third-party security tooling.
  • Drive emerging-edge ideas into prototyping end-to-end for new security solutions.
  • Identify risks and propose implementation paths and go/no-go gates.
  • Help develop technical content and identify cross-team patterns and gaps.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
