The Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to enhance Amazon's next-generation networking platform. This role focuses on developing and optimizing SONiC-based network software while collaborating with hardware and ASIC vendors. The engineer will work on automation, telemetry systems, and improving operational reliability across a large-scale network infrastructure. The position is integral to achieving Amazon's deployment goals for 2026.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
Responsibilities
- Design and develop SONiC networking features, platform services, and device drivers
- Debug and optimize Linux-based networking systems across production deployments
- Partner with hardware and ASIC vendors on platform bring-up, SAI integration, and SDK enablement
- Build and improve telemetry pipelines, deployment automation, and operational tooling
- Drive software quality through CI/CD, automated testing, and firmware hardening
- Work across software, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver production-ready networking solutions
