Job description
Apple's Display Technologies group is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to design and develop innovative display modules for future products. The role involves creating next-generation technologies and ensuring the integration of these components into robust display designs. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to address issues and deliver high-quality displays. This position requires a strong background in mechanical engineering and a passion for consumer electronics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
- Expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
- Experience leading mechanical design and validation.
- Proficiency in 3D/2D software such as Pro/E, NX, CATIA, or Solidworks.
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools like Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodology and capable of large data set analysis using JMP, MATLAB, or Minitab.
- Electro-mechanical design experience for high-volume products.
- Experience creating and applying AI/ML tools for mechanical engineering workflows.
- Excellent prioritization and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Define the module mechanical architecture based on cross-functional requirements.
- Collaborate with the system team to define product interfaces including fit and assembly features.
- Support the product through engineering development, mass-production ramp-up, and launch.
- Achieve system goals through mechanical design optimization and prototyping.
- Conduct factory audits to ensure high yield and quality in manufacturing.
- Define and implement validation plans for mechanical engineering characteristics of display modules.
- Drive detailed failure analyses and ensure specifications are met throughout the supply chain.
- Communicate validation results to peers and leadership.
- Lead technical projects into qualification and production.
- Develop component or material evaluation tests.
