The Data Center Product Design Engineer will be part of the Apple Data Center Product Design Engineering team, focusing on integrating technology into Apple's next generation of server and storage hardware. This role emphasizes creativity, spatial reasoning, and attention to detail to solve design challenges collaboratively. The team values rapid iteration and open feedback to achieve innovative design outcomes. The engineer will work on developing energy-efficient and cost-effective systems from concept to production.

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience in the design of server, storage, and Hyperscale data center products
• Strong engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics, material science, heat transfer, mechanism design, and manufacturing
• Experience with the server mechanical development cycle from prototyping to high volume manufacturing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel up to 20% in North America and Asia
• MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience with server design areas including sheet metal design, PCBA mechanical design, and thermal interfaces
• Experience with Unigraphics NX CAD modeling software
• Working knowledge of structural analysis and FEA

• Support the development of systems from chip to server to rack
• Engineer products from concept to production
• Create components and assemblies for prototyping in collaboration with JDM vendors
• Engage in collaborative debate and apply analytical skills to design challenges
• Conduct tolerance analysis, statistical process control, and metrology
• Perform mechanical testing methodologies including fit and function validation
• Conduct failure analysis and apply logical reasoning to identify root causes
