The Industrial Design Engineer II (IDE II) role at Amazon's One Material Handling System (OMHS) team focuses on designing major sub-systems for next-generation fulfillment facilities. This position involves collaborating with various engineering teams to create reusable design templates and ensure cross-component integration. The IDE II will manage design complexity across multiple projects while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to design standards. The team aims to revolutionize Amazon's material handling capabilities through precision engineering and innovative design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in MHE system design, industrial engineering, or systems integration
- Experience designing sub-system level material handling solutions at LOD 200–300
- Experience producing equipment specifications and vendor procurement documentation
- Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or CREO
Responsibilities
- Design major portions of material handling systems for ARS Gen14 or SSD facilities.
- Own FE packages for assigned sub-systems from concept through construction-ready documentation.
- Develop standard design templates and configuration patterns for the OMHS portfolio.
- Demonstrate proficiency in cross-component integration across various engineering disciplines.
- Produce equipment specifications for vendor procurement, including detailed RFP technical sections.
- Participate in vendor technical evaluations and integrator design reviews.
- Manage design complexity across multiple concurrent projects while maintaining design quality.
- Develop design validation approaches to prove solutions before construction.
- Mentor IDE I team members and contribute to the evolution of OMHS design standards.
