Job description
The Solutions Engineer role at Amazon's Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) team focuses on enhancing equipment reliability and operational performance. This position requires frequent travel and can be based at any Amazon location in the United States. The engineer will work with various equipment types, including conveyors and sortation systems, to develop software solutions that optimize performance. The role involves collaboration with multiple teams to address business requirements and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
Requirements
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- Experience in automation or complex material handling equipment (MHE) environments.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies.
- Expertise with Studio5000, Ignition, Codesys, and related controls software environments.
- Ability to analyze throughput data and system performance metrics.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing MHE software configurations and identify performance gaps.
- Develop and implement optimization strategies to improve throughput and uptime.
- Design software-based solutions that maximize the utilization of MHE assets.
- Create technical specifications and architecture documents for proposed solutions.
- Lead end-to-end implementation of software optimization projects.
- Manage system integrations between MHE controls and enterprise software.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and validation of software changes.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and IT teams to understand business requirements.
- Present solution proposals and ROI analyses to leadership.
- Serve as the technical liaison between vendors and internal teams.
- Conduct training sessions and knowledge transfers for customer staff.
- Provide 24/7 Tier 2/3 technical support for controls-related MHE issues.
