The Senior System Power Architect for Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Workloads at Google will focus on defining the future of consumer hardware by analyzing and optimizing power and performance for AR and VR applications. This role is part of the Platforms and Devices team, which develops innovative technologies to enhance user interactions with computing. The architect will work on ensuring immersive experiences under tight thermal and power constraints while collaborating with various teams to translate architectural insights into silicon requirements. The position is based in San Diego, CA.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field.
- 4 years of experience in SoC architecture, power/performance modeling, or pre-silicon verification.
- Experience with low-power design methodologies or power management techniques.
- Experience with memory subsystems, interconnects, or data paths to DDR.
Responsibilities
- Benchmark and model next-generation AR/VR use cases against industry competitors to identify architectural gaps and opportunities.
- Analyze end-to-end workloads to quantify their impact on total Pixel power consumption.
- Leverage low-power design techniques to optimize the utilization of low-power islands.
- Map and optimize critical data paths from the display/sensors through the SoC fabric to ensure maximum bandwidth with minimal power overhead.
- Partner with software, product, and hardware teams to translate architectural insights into actionable silicon requirements.
