Job description

The Camera Actuator Calibration and Validation Engineer role at Google focuses on developing and implementing calibration and validation strategies for camera actuator control systems. This position is part of the Platforms and Devices team, which works on integrating software and hardware to enhance user experiences. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure effective implementation and improvement of calibration processes. The role requires both technical expertise and the ability to mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field.
  • 2 years of experience programming in Python.
  • Master's degree or PhD in a related field is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in the calibration and validation of camera actuators.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of calibration and validation strategies for camera actuator control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define figures of merit and assess user impact for cameras.
  • Formulate and validate new metrology considering factory capabilities and throughput.
  • Write clear documentation for engineering and test requirements.
  • Collaborate with vendors to understand their capabilities and drive improvements.
  • Ensure correct factory implementation of tests and calibrations by reviewing factory data.
  • Propose meaningful specification limits based on assembly tolerance and metrology limitations.
