Job description

The Device Software Development Engineer role on the Amazon Leo for Government team focuses on designing and developing embedded software for satellite and ground systems. This position offers the opportunity to work on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms and collaborate with various teams to deliver secure and high-performance solutions. The team is dedicated to advancing satellite communications technology to support critical government initiatives. Candidates must be U.S. citizens due to government requirements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 2+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 2+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground terminal systems.
  • Leverage modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms to develop scalable, modular, and high-performance software.
  • Implement and integrate software for data processing, device control, and networking protocols.
  • Debug and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues using tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless hardware-software interaction and system reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and uphold high software quality standards.
