The MIDAS team within Amazon Search is seeking a Language Engineer to enhance the quality of search data through effective annotation guidelines. This role involves collaboration across various teams to improve customer experiences by ensuring high accuracy in labeled data outputs. The Language Engineer will leverage linguistic and scripting expertise to address natural language processing challenges. • 2+ years of experience in computational linguistics, language data processing, or semantics.
• Knowledge of Regex, SQL, MS Excel, and Git.
• Ability to navigate a Unix terminal and use common command line tools.
• Familiarity with annotation tools and workflows.
• Excellent communication and strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Experience in data science and quantitative research.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning and deep learning techniques in NLP and search.
• Experience with AWS services such as S3 and Sagemaker.
• Knowledge of user experience concepts and methods.
• Familiarity with online retail and e-commerce.

• Adopt and design quality control metrics to evaluate data annotation quality.
• Maximize productivity and quality through streamlined workflows and process standardization.

• Initiate and contribute to improvement projects and implement solutions.
• Establish processes to onboard and train junior data associates.
