Job description
Netflix is seeking an experienced leader for the Member Innovation Data Engineering team, which collaborates closely with Data Scientists and Product Managers to drive innovation in the Netflix Product. The ideal candidate will guide projects from ideation to production while fostering a strong team culture. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and people leadership skills to empower and develop team members. The leader will also establish strong partnerships across the organization to enhance collaboration and impact.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering.
- 4+ years of engineering leadership experience.
- Strong programming experience in at least one major language and SQL.
- Experience working in a technical role with a large scale consumer facing digital company.
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Spark or Hadoop.
Responsibilities
- Provide vision and context to guide the team in understanding business and technology.
- Attract and recruit top-tier engineers to build a diverse and effective team.
- Coach and guide employees through their strengths and weaknesses with regular feedback.
- Establish strong relationships with business and technical leaders across Netflix.
- Anticipate investments needed to improve efficiency, innovation, and alignment.
- Identify areas for continuous improvement and advocate for necessary actions.
