As a Software Development Engineer on the OpenSearch team at Amazon, you will tackle technical challenges in distributed systems, data ingestion, and search infrastructure. You will be responsible for translating business requirements into deliverables while developing reliable distributed services that operate at scale. This role offers a greenfield opportunity within a newly formed, high-performing team focused on AI-led initiatives. You will work with various programming languages and technologies to enhance the OpenSearch Service for customers.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design, develop and support high throughput, highly available, distributed, multi-tenant, cloud native systems.
• Produce robust, efficient, and maintainable code primarily in Java and Rust.
• Lead development and maintenance of key system features for Amazon OpenSearch Service.
• Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Work on challenging problems in areas such as data ingestion, auto-scaling, and query optimization.
• Identify and advocate for operational improvements to reduce maintenance and development costs.
