Job description

The Data Center Mechanical Engineer role at Google focuses on the design and implementation of mechanical systems for data centers. This position is part of the Data Center Engineering team, which is responsible for advancing the physical design of data centers. The engineer will work on complex topics related to power usage and environmentally-friendly facility operations. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with engineering standards and to drive infrastructure improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
  • 10 years of experience in design, construction, and commissioning of HVAC and mechanical distribution systems.
  • Experience in mechanical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to data center services and operations teams, defining mechanical system design requirements for multiple projects.
  • Develop, implement, and manage mechanical designs at the site level from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with the Engineer of Record to respond to site-specific engineering Requests for Information.
  • Own and manage site-level power system issues during project execution.
