Job description

The Data Center Electrical Engineer role at Google focuses on the design, implementation, and management of electrical systems for data centers. The position is part of the Data Center Engineering team, which is dedicated to advancing the physical design of data centers. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety and efficiency standards. This role requires a visionary approach to optimize electrical systems and drive improvements in data center operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in data center or mission-critical facility design and construction environments.
  • 5 years of experience with data center electrical infrastructure.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to data center services and operations teams, defining electrical system design requirements for multiple data center projects.
  • Develop, implement, and manage electrical designs at the site level, from the basis of design through to the issuance of construction documents.
  • Collaborate with the Engineer of Record to respond to site-specific engineering Requests for Information and ensure alignment with Google's requirements.
  • Work closely with the core engineering team to provide site-specific requirements during the development of the Basis of Design.
  • Own and manage site-level power system issues during project execution, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues.
