Job description

Arcadis is seeking a Traffic Engineer (Signal Operations & Analysis) to join their Nashville, TN team. The ideal candidate will have experience in traffic engineering, traffic operations, and intelligent transportation systems. This role focuses on traffic signal operations and traffic flow analysis, utilizing various software tools for modeling and simulation. Candidates will have the flexibility to work remotely or in-office but must attend meetings and field assignments in person as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on Traffic Signal Field Operations or Implementation experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with traffic signal controller hardware and central traffic management systems.
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).

Responsibilities

  • Support the Tennessee traffic engineering practice by preparing engineering reports, studies, and analyses.
  • Utilize software tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, and VISSIM for modeling and simulation of traffic.
  • Lead development of signal timing plans based on detailed operational analysis.
  • Oversee field implementation of corridor signal timing and fine-tuning of traffic-responsive systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, signal warrant analyses, and timing optimization recommendations.
  • Collaborate with municipalities, DOTs, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Lead tasks and projects independently and mentor younger staff.
  • Manage work efficiently to meet project schedules and budgets.
