Job description

The Entry Level Hardware and Systems Engineer at IBM will be involved in designing, prototyping, and validating next-generation compute systems. This role is part of a collaborative team that integrates expertise across various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineering. The focus will be on innovating high-performance systems that support advanced AI, cloud, and enterprise technologies. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Materials, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and/or project management is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware design and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Allegro is necessary.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages, including Python, C/C++, or Bash, is required.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize mechanical, thermal, and electrical components using CAD and EDA tools.
  • Build and test hardware prototypes, performing debug and failure analysis.
  • Model system-level thermal and mechanical performance to enhance efficiency.
  • Create and utilize automation, firmware, and data analysis tools for hardware validation.
  • Support process and materials development, manufacturing readiness, and equipment IT integration.
