Job description

The Software Development Engineer II position at AWS focuses on building and maintaining complex products that enhance customer experiences and improve performance. The role is part of the Security Token Service team, which is dedicated to creating fault-tolerant systems that operate at scale. Engineers will collaborate across teams to deliver secure and scalable identity solutions while contributing to the overall engineering excellence within the organization. This position offers the opportunity to tackle challenging technical problems in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 4+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 4+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience debugging, profiling, and implementing best software engineering practices in large-scale systems
  • Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead

Responsibilities

  • Own features end-to-end, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions.
  • Build high-quality, highly available, and always-on products.
  • Research and implement solutions that enhance customer experiences.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across AWS to deliver secure and scalable identity solutions.
  • Contribute to raising the engineering bar through code reviews, technical mentorship, and design discussions.
  • Design and implement solutions to optimize software architecture and resolve software defects.
  • Participate in design discussions and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive business decisions with technical input.
