Job description

As an SDE II in the Scanless Tech organization at Amazon Robotics, you will design, build, and maintain production ML/CV inference pipelines for robotic systems. This role focuses on integrating perception systems with robotic platforms and sensor hardware to enhance item identification in Amazon's fulfillment network. You will collaborate with engineers and applied scientists to translate research into production-grade systems. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and accuracy of operations across Amazon's vast network.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of machine learning model architecture and inference
  • Experience with machine learning technologies, Reinforcement Learning, Deep Learning, or Computer Vision
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain production ML/CV inference pipelines that run on edge hardware inside fulfillment workcells.
  • Develop and optimize model training pipelines, including data collection, labeling, augmentation, and evaluation.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of features from design through deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with engineers and applied scientists to translate research prototypes into production-grade systems.
  • Integrate perception systems with robotic platforms and sensor hardware.
  • Define and track performance metrics; investigate and resolve production issues across a fleet of deployed systems.
  • Contribute to system architecture decisions that balance accuracy, latency, cost, and maintainability.
  • Drive operational improvements by designing and building fault-tolerant production software.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
