Job description

This role involves leading the design and implementation of a distributed storage service at cloud scale within the AWS Utility Computing team. The engineer will work on both high-level service development in Java and low-level systems coding that interfaces with hardware. Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of a distributed storage service that operates at cloud scale.
  • Develop distributed system services in Java and perform low-level systems coding.
  • Work on bringing new systems to production use and solve challenging computer science problems.
  • Reduce the internal cost of migrating customer data to Glacier storage media.
  • Effectively place customer data for easier and faster retrievals.
  • Own the migration pipeline from discovering customer data to generating media-ready data units.
  • Optimize processes to migrate data quickly and securely.
