The Senior Cloud Engineer role at Apple focuses on leading complex cloud platform projects within the Wallet, Payments and Commerce Cloud Engineering team. This position requires a strong background in cloud infrastructure and platform engineering, with an emphasis on security and customer experience. The engineer will drive cross-functional solutions and set technical direction while mentoring other engineers. Requirements
- 8+ years of Cloud infrastructure and platform engineering experience.
- Experience building platforms with a focus on internal developers as customers.
- Expertise in Kubernetes and Containers with multi-tenant, multi-cluster, multi-region experience.
- Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Crossplane and Terraform.
- Knowledge of security-first architecture with Policy as Code.
- Public cloud expertise across AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.
- Experience with GitOps and CI/CD tools such as Flux, Jenkins, and Kargo.
- Strong networking fundamentals including NATs, TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.
- Proficiency in Linux internals and systems-level troubleshooting.
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, service meshes, and observability stacks.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical direction.
Responsibilities
- Independently lead significant pieces of the cloud platform.
- Set technical direction on project teams.
- Raise the bar on quality, security, and customer focus across the organization.
- Design composition and provider patterns at scale.
- Bake guardrails into the platform to ensure security.
- Debug cross-region connectivity issues.
