Job description

The Senior Software Engineer will be part of the Siri User Experience Metrics team, focusing on building large-scale data systems that enhance the user experience across Apple platforms. This role involves transforming raw data into actionable insights to improve Siri's performance and reliability. The engineer will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure that Siri meets user needs effectively. This position offers the opportunity to influence product decisions and strategy through data-driven insights.

Requirements

  • 7 years of development experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 5 years of development experience and a PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Expert knowledge of one or more object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Objective-C, C++, Scala, or Swift, or scripting languages like Python, Ruby, or Bash.
  • Experience working with Spark or other distributed data technologies such as Hadoop, Presto, Flink, or Druid.
  • Expertise in the development of big data systems and ETL for product metrics and analysis of large data volumes.
  • Knowledge of SQL to analyze data and derive insights.
  • Leadership experience, including being a technical lead for complex, cross-functional development projects.
  • Experience supporting the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, including data ingestion and model monitoring in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience building, scheduling, and maintaining data and ML workflows using orchestration frameworks such as Apache Airflow.
  • Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, reliable data systems to transform raw data into actionable insights.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Testing, and Quality teams to enhance the Siri experience.
  • Identify and alert on quality issues using data and metrics to shape Siri's User Experience.
  • Build large-scale data systems that power metrics observability at scale.
  • Follow engineering best practices including unit testing, CI/CD, documentation, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Gather requirements and deliver robust data solutions and intuitive dashboards.
