Job description

The Sr. SoC Power Engineer will be part of the Machine Learning Acceleration team, focusing on power analysis and modeling for the Inferentia and Trainium SoCs. This role involves collaborating with architects, designers, and verification engineers to optimize power consumption in machine learning accelerators. The engineer will be responsible for power analysis from RTL to final netlist and will drive initiatives to enhance power efficiency. The position requires a deep understanding of power analysis tools and circuit-level chip power dynamics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 6 years of experience with a BS, 5 years with an MS, or 3 years with a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Expertise in power analysis tools like PrimePower or PowerArtist.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Tcl, Perl, or Python.
  • Good understanding of Physical Design, EM/IR, Power Integrity, and Thermal aspects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct full chip power analysis and modeling at various design stages.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards for power rollups.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to create vectors for IR and Thermal analysis.
  • Provide feedback to designers on strategies to reduce power consumption.
  • Perform lab power measurements and correlate them with simulations.
