The ALG Mission Operations Engineer role at Amazon Leo focuses on ensuring the operational health and performance of spacecraft for government and enterprise customers. The team collaborates closely with various departments to enhance mission operations efficiency and reliability. This position involves working with automated command and control interfaces, telemetry monitoring, and operational procedure verification tools. The engineer will also participate in mission rehearsals and support anomaly resolution activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields
- 3+ years of experience in spacecraft mission operations, with understanding of subsystems including Command and Data Handling, Telemetry, Tracking, and Command, Power, Thermal, GNC, and Propulsion
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex on-orbit anomalies
- Experience with automated testing of operational procedures using Hardware-In-The-Loop
- Active or ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance
- Experience with Electro-Optical/Infrared or Radio Frequency payloads
- Experience with performing formal Failure Mode and Effect Analysis methods
- Experience with designing and implementing onboard Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery mechanisms
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and monitor spacecraft operations across all mission phases including launch and early orbit phase operations
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Concept Of Operations knowledge of the spacecraft bus and all subsystems and payloads
- Design, plan, and participate in mission rehearsals
- Perform both on-console and back office support of spacecraft health assessment, telemetry analysis, and anomaly investigation
- Design, develop, and maintain operational procedures, automation tools, and software utilities to support mission operations workflows
- Conduct testing and validation in hardware-in-the-loop environments to verify operational procedures and command sequences
- Collaborate with subsystem subject matter experts and engineers to resolve on-orbit issues
- Participate in on-call operations rotation and support anomaly resolution activities as needed
- Contribute to the improvement of ground system tools and automated testing of operational procedures
