Job description

The Principal IOM Mainframe Developer role involves maintaining, enhancing, and transforming high volume production platforms in the Defined Contribution Product Record Keeping domain. The team operates in an agile environment, focusing on delivering innovative software solutions while collaborating with business partners. This position requires strong technical and analytical skills in mainframe technologies, as well as leadership and mentoring abilities. The mission is to improve customer experiences and support Fidelity's commitment to helping customers prepare for retirement.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience with large mainframe-based systems.
  • BS/BA or advanced degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Solid hands-on development skills in mainframe languages and technologies such as Cobol, CICS, VSAM, JCL, and utilities.
  • Proficiency with the DB2 database management system and database processing concepts.
  • Knowledge of native stored procedures is a plus.
  • Any knowledge or experience in distributed technologies, cloud computing, and/or Java programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Apply skills in all aspects of various projects including design, development, and implementation.
  • Engage collaboratively with systems and business partners to deliver high quality software solutions.
  • Deploy and support software releases into production environments.
  • Perform detailed analysis for maintenance and enhancement projects, both batch and online.
  • Provide estimates and scoping for proposed projects.
  • Embrace flexibility and shift focus to meet pressing customer/client needs.
