Job description

Amazon Web Services Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2) is seeking passionate individuals to join their team focused on scaling the world's largest cloud computing service. The role involves working with the EC2 Provisioning team, which is responsible for turning new servers into virtualized hosts for customer workloads globally. Engineers will tackle complex engineering problems in distributed systems while collaborating with senior technical leaders. This hands-on position encompasses the full software development lifecycle, emphasizing continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, and testing

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end process from requirements gathering to implementation and operations
  • Conduct design reviews and code reviews to ensure high-quality outputs
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement within the team
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges in distributed systems
  • Collaborate closely with EC2 Principal Engineers and other technical leaders
