Job description

The Apple Camera Architecture team is looking for a motivated leader to define future camera hardware requirements for a range of products. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize camera hardware solutions and integrate them with advanced software for superior imaging experiences. The ideal candidate will conduct system analysis and derive camera requirements from use cases. This position requires a strong understanding of camera technologies and optical science.

Requirements

  • BS in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Imaging Science or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with camera technologies and optical science.
  • Knowledge in two or more areas such as optics, camera calibration, computer vision, image quality metrics, image sensor and pixel fundamentals, image processing pipeline.
  • MS or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Imaging Science or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed system analysis and tradeoff evaluations.
  • Derive camera and camera system requirements from use cases.
  • Characterize and simulate optical systems to aid the design and validation process.
  • Work closely with camera hardware, product hardware, algorithm, and software teams on future imaging solutions.
  • Define camera metrics and specifications through product goals, user studies, and image/data analysis.
  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional partners to recommend solutions and influence product decisions.
