Job description

The AWS Rack Power team is seeking a firmware engineer to drive innovation in power systems for Amazon Web Services. This role involves owning the source code for firmware running power electronics in next-generation data center hardware. The engineer will collaborate with a diverse team to enhance customer experience while ensuring high standards for performance and quality. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging technology problems and contribute to the evolution of AWS services.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in embedded C programming and firmware debugging techniques.
  • 2+ years' experience with hardware interfaces, schematics reading, and board bring-up.
  • Experience with common embedded system interfaces and protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN.
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and testing.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience designing software for power electronic systems successfully deployed at scale.
  • Experience developing and testing solutions using Verilog or VHDL.
  • Proficiency in at least one systems programming language such as C++ or Rust.

Responsibilities

  • Own the source code for firmware running power electronics for data center hardware.
  • Provide leadership in applying new technologies for large scale server deployments.
  • Act as a firmware subject matter expert within the engineering team.
  • Write, test, debug, and ensure control of firmware across a global fleet of equipment.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve product performance, quality, and cost.
