Job description

Salesforce is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Slack Desktop team within the Architecture & Systems organization. This role focuses on building the Desktop Framework that supports the Slack desktop client across all platforms. The engineer will lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance developer productivity, security, and performance. Collaboration with other teams is essential to ensure the success of the Electron ecosystem and to maintain the core systems powering the Slack desktop client.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience writing client-side code using React and Typescript for modern web applications at scale.
  • Deep experience with Google's Chromium project or large-scale open source contributions.
  • Experience working in a large-scale, shared codebase with hundreds of contributors.
  • Expertise in building complex systems and tooling with a focus on strategic architecture.
  • Exceptional communication skills to align technical infrastructure with company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve developer productivity, OS stability, performance, and security.
  • Contribute to key architectural decisions for frontend and desktop infrastructure.
  • Identify and propose solutions to ambiguous problems such as framework migrations.
  • Maintain and enhance the core systems that support the Slack desktop client and Electron framework.
  • Mentor engineers across the organization and foster a culture of learning and collaboration.

Benefits

  • Employees at Slack, as part of Salesforce, are often offered comprehensive benefits focused on wellbeing and inclusion, including competitive health-care coverage, time off to rest, recharge and volunteer, and holistic programs that support mental health, family planning and overall work–life balance.
