Job description

The Assistant Resident Engineer will be responsible for managing a team of Field Engineers to ensure compliance with contract requirements on civil infrastructure projects. This role involves planning and coordinating field inspection activities, reviewing daily reports, and addressing various field issues. The position is integral to maintaining construction quality and facilitating communication between field personnel and design teams. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field
  • Experience in managing civil infrastructure projects as an Assistant Resident Engineer
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 10 Hour OSHA certification is preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, but not required
  • Port Authority experience is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction inspection personnel to ensure quality assurance inspections are completed properly and timely.
  • Verify that tests, observations, and inspections are performed and documented according to plans and specifications.
  • Assist in responding to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Provide field information such as photos, drawing markups, and field measurements to design personnel as needed.
  • Work on Change Orders and conduct construction meetings.
