Job description

The Office Engineer will join Jacobs' construction management team in Newark, NJ, focusing on heavy civil construction projects. This role involves preparing and reviewing payment applications, managing change orders, and ensuring proper documentation throughout the construction process. The engineer will work closely with contractors and project controls to maintain project schedules and documentation. Requirements

  • Substantial professional years of experience in construction management.
  • Experience working on heavy civil construction projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to move around an active construction site.
  • Experience with web-based construction document management platforms.
  • Working knowledge of construction scheduling and document controls software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review payment applications and perform desk audits of contractor billings.
  • Assist with shop drawing tracking and distribution.
  • Notify contractors of new change orders and ensure accurate documentation of work.
  • Prepare and review change orders and estimates for proposed changes.
  • Ensure construction photos are taken regularly and filed appropriately.
  • Attend technical meetings and prepare input for monthly reports.
  • Maintain documentation for contract closeout and controlled inspections.
  • Assist safety professionals with site safety verifications and document concerns.
  • Track extra work and ensure proper contract closeouts.
