Job description

The SerDes Validation Engineer will be part of the SerDes Technology team at AMD, focusing on developing characterization and verification test solutions for silicon photonic devices and optical engines. This role involves collaboration with various Product Development Groups and key technology partners to ensure best practices are implemented throughout the organization. The engineer will be responsible for solving complex test and manufacturing challenges related to silicon photonics and optical interconnect technologies. The position requires a dynamic individual who can contribute to long-term test solution strategies.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in EIC or PIC characterization and validation
  • Strong background in silicon photonics and optical interconnect technologies
  • Experience with full stack lab instruments such as high-speed scopes, BERT, and VNA
  • Experience in mixed signal analysis and issue debugging
  • MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Optics & Photonics Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Bring up and validate silicon photonic devices and optical engines including modulators and photodetectors.
  • Perform electro-optical characterization including optical power, extinction ratio, and insertion loss.
  • Validate Tx/Rx optical paths across temperature, voltage, and process corners.
  • Correlate lab measurements with simulation and modeling results.
  • Develop and maintain validation test plans, lab procedures, and automation frameworks.
  • Drive root-cause analysis using lab data and optical measurements.
