Job description
The Stability Engineering team at Apple is seeking a senior engineer to enhance and maintain large, AI-augmented systems. This role involves operating the platforms and infrastructure that convert crash reports into actionable insights for engineering teams. The engineer will work on ensuring the health of the stability analysis platform, utilizing AI tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Collaboration with stability analysts and other teams is essential to drive operating-system quality.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Fluent use of AI-assisted development tools to work effectively at scale
- Demonstrated experience designing and scaling distributed systems
- Track record of maintaining and evolving production services
- Strong full-stack instincts across data infrastructure, backend services, and user-facing surfaces
- Proven ability to operate independently on ambiguous, open-ended problems
- Experience operating LLM- or agent-based features in production environments
- Experience building or maintaining evaluation harnesses, audit trails, or replay infrastructure for AI systems
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Node.js/TypeScript, or Python for production services
- Experience working in environments with significant deferred scalability work
Responsibilities
- Tune evaluation infrastructure and tighten operational controls
- Improve auditability and debug trails for the stability analysis platform
- Scale workflows relied upon by analysts for OS reliability
- Prototype and integrate new capabilities into the platform as needed
- Collaborate closely with stability analysts and the broader team responsible for symbolication and service infrastructure
- Use AI-assisted development tools to investigate issues and refactor at scale
