Job description

The role is for a Hardware Engineer within Apple's Camera Hardware Engineering group, focusing on the development and integration of high-performance camera modules and depth-sensing hardware. The team is dedicated to designing innovative camera technology that enhances the photography experience for Apple products. Candidates will collaborate with various teams to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optics, or a related field.
  • 3 years of industry experience in design, manufacturing, or integration of optomechanical products.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Experience delivering products at scale from concept to mass production while meeting yield, reliability, and efficiency targets.
  • Understanding of geometric optics and image quality evaluation, including test charts and algorithms.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy and X-ray.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop groundbreaking ideas for camera systems from sensor to lens.
  • Collaborate with teams across Apple to research and test camera hardware.
  • Take ownership of the development and system integration of compact camera modules.
  • Analyze and evaluate image quality and performance of camera systems.
  • Implement manufacturing processes for compact modules, including sensor and flex attachment.
