The Product Design Engineer will be part of Apple's Acoustics Transducer Design team, focusing on designing and validating custom speaker modules for highly space-constrained products. This role involves leading the mechanical design of speaker module assemblies and collaborating with Transducer Design Engineers and system Product Design Engineers. The engineer will balance trade-offs between acoustic performance, mechanical design, manufacturing, and reliability. The position requires creative design work, including generating 3D CAD and 2D drawings for various components.

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field with 3+ years of work experience.
• Mechanical design experience generating 3D CAD and 2D drawings is required, with NX experience preferred.
• Experience shipping products in the consumer electronics industry or a closely related industry.
• Experience designing small or micro electromechanical assemblies.
• Ability to achieve sophisticated geometry by understanding and influencing tooling design.
• Experience designing and selecting materials for mass-produced injection molded plastic parts and progressively stamped metal parts.
• Proactive problem-solving skills, including the development of reliability test plans and conducting root cause analysis.
• Capability to work with global suppliers and guide actions in assembly and part production facilities.
• Ability to use dimensional data to inform part design decisions, including conducting tolerance stack analysis and applying GD&T to 2D drawings.
