Job description
This position involves processing data updates and supporting internal conversion events while contributing to mainframe modernization efforts through the development of mainframe applications. The role requires implementing distributed technologies such as SnapLogic, Snowflake, and AWS to migrate applications to modern platforms. The candidate will work in an Agile environment, facilitating testing and quality assurance of mainframe applications. The focus is on delivering business solutions by developing complex software applications and ensuring comprehensive documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or a Master's degree with relevant experience.
- Three years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer performing mainframe software development using COBOL, DB2, IDMS, CICS, and JCL in a financial and technology services environment, or one year with a Master's degree.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in an Agile environment.
- Experience in software development and maintenance of critical applications in a mainframe environment using COBOL and DB2.
Responsibilities
- Develop software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
- Create custom SQL queries for data access and communicate with backend DB2/IDMS databases.
- Facilitate the testing and quality assurance of mainframe applications using mainframe tools.
- Assist in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
- Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
- Respond to client requests by supporting conversion and deconversion activities.
- Participate in SPRINT planning meetings to define delivery time estimation and own development stories.
