JobsSilicon Debug Engineer
Job description
The Silicon Debug Engineer role focuses on investigating and root-cause failures in advanced custom digital megacells used in high-performance, low-power SoCs. The team works at the intersection of circuit theory, device physics, and hands-on failure investigation to ensure the quality and reliability of ASICs. Engineers will bridge the gap between electrical debug and physical failure analysis, collaborating with various teams to impact product ramp efforts. This position requires a deep understanding of silicon investigation techniques and the ability to analyze complex failures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience in SRAM circuits, custom circuit design, or silicon debug.
- Deep understanding of deep-submicron device physics and leakage mechanisms.
- Solid understanding of device matching and noise sources impacting high-precision circuits.
- Familiarity with electrical and physical failure analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of Dynamic Lock-in Thermography and its applications.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and root-cause failures in advanced custom digital megacells.
- Bridge the gap between electrical debug and physical failure analysis.
- Collaborate with circuit design, process engineering, and failure analysis teams.
- Plan failure analysis strategies based on electrical debug data.
- Conduct structured experiments during silicon debug and analyze large datasets.
- Utilize scripting to support efficient handling of debug data.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
